The National Bureau of Statistics reports that in January-June 2026, public transport companies transported 167,9 million passengers, 2,2% more than in the same period of the last year. This evolution was due to the increase in the number of passengers transported by trolleybus (+3,1%) and road (+0,9%) transport. At the same time, the number of passengers carried by rail (-63,1%), river (-26,6%) and air (-1,3%) transport decreased during the analyzed period. Passenger turnover decreased by 0,1% and amounted to 3306,8 million passenger-km.

In January-June 2026, railway, road, river and air transport enterprises transported 10,2 million tons of cargo, which is 20,6% more than in January-June 2025. During the reporting period, the volume of cargo transported by rail (+23,2%) and road (+20,7%) transport increased. At the same time, the volume of cargo transported by air (-53,6%) and river (-31,0%) transport decreased. Cargo turnover of transport enterprises amounted to 2811,9 million tonnes-km, which is 14,4% more than in the same period last year.
